Correspondence Lessons

Many people live in areas where it’s either difficult to find a good teacher, or there are no teachers at all. The Correspondence lessons that I offer are custom made individual video lessons that I make one at a time just for you. I email them as movie files, often with accompanying jpegs of hand written examples, based on your specific questions. I never send pre-recorded video.

Workshops

I’m always very excited to do workshops, either in connection with a concert or separately. I strive to make it a very relaxed, low-key affair. Typically a group gathers in a living room, music store, or other casual space and we discuss improvisation, technique, bringing together different influences, tone production, gear, how to practice, listening, and playing in time. We can talk about fingerstyle, flatpicking, and hybrid picking. Lots of genre bending for sure. I’ll play lots examples, provide some materials to take home, and as always, people are welcome to check out my Santa Cruz guitars. Attendees and can bring a guitar and play if they want, or just hang back and check it out. It’s an absolutely zero pressure setting.

Private Lessons In Portland Oregon

I offer private lessons in a relaxed home office setting in beautiful Northeast Portland Oregon. I sometimes have openings for regular weekly lessons. For people traveling through the Pacific Northwest on business or vacation, arranging a one time longer private meeting is also possible.
